【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtodifferentiatetheflamepropagationcharacteristicsofdenseorcellularelastomericcompoundsusedingaskets,settingblocks,shims,orspacers.Itisasmallscaletestwhichenablesthespecifiertoexerciseengineeringjudgmentintheselectionofmaterials.Inthistestmethod,thespecimensaresubjectedtoaspecificlaboratoryfiretestexposurecondition.Ifdifferenttestconditionsaresubstitutedortheanticipatedend-useconditionsarechanged,itmaynotbepossiblebyorfromthistestmethodtopredictchangesintheperformancecharacteristics.Therefore,theresultsarevalidonlyforthefiretestexposureconditiondescribedinthistestmethod.Iftheresultsobtainedbythistestmethodaretobeconsideredinthetotalassessmentoffirerisk,thenallpertinentestablishedcriteriaforfireriskassessmentdevelopedbyASTMCommitteeE-5mustbeincludedintheconsideration.1.1Thistestmethodcoversalaboratoryprocedurefordeterminingflamepropagationcharacteristicsofadenseorcellularelastomericgasket(suchasexpansion,lock-striporcompressiongasket)oranaccessory(suchasasettingblock,spacerorshim)whenexposedtoheatandflame,withnosignificancebeingattachedtosuchmattersasfuelcontribution,rateofflamespread,smokedeveloped,orthenatureandtemperatureoftheproductsofcombustion.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareprovidedforinformationpurposesonly.1.3Thisstandardshouldbeusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditionsandshouldnotbeusedtodescribeorappraisethefire-hazardorfire-riskofmaterials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.However,resultsofthetestmaybeusedaselementsofafire-hazardassessmentorafire-riskassessmentwhichtakesintoaccountallofthefactorswhicharepertinenttoanassessmentofthefirehazardorfireriskofaparticularenduseThisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.4Thecommitteewithjurisdictionoverthisstandardisnotawareofanycomparablestandardspublishedbyotherorganizations.
